Choosing a Commercial Vehicle

Polaris Commercial offers a variety of gas and diesel-powered Utility Vehicles to suit a range of applications for your business. Each vehicle is designed with your needs in mind, and you can even design your own.

Pro XD-specific accessories can also customize the vehicle for your needs. Explore the Mid-Size and Full-Size accessory pages for options, or use the build tool on any Pro XD model. Customizations can include plows, electronic power steering, roofs, doors, additional lighting and cab heating/cooling systems.

There are three main differences between the vehicles in the Pro XD lineup: gas vs diesel; two-passenger vs four-passenger (crew); mid-size vs full-size. Which configuration you select depends on how you plan to use the vehicle. Gas vs Diesel
Consider how you want this UTV to fit with your existing vehicles. If you tend to work with gas-powered engines, then a Pro XD gas model might be a good choice. 

If you're not concerned about having different types of fuel, think about future maintenance and upkeep. Diesel engines are considered more durable and have a 200-hour maintenance interval. Pro XD gas engines have a 100-hour maintenance interval, and even parts in heavy-duty gas engines wear out more quickly than those in a diesel engine. 

A gas-powered engine might be more cost accessible due to the wider availability of gasoline and service parts. But while diesel fuel is generally more expensive, diesel engines tend to offer a better fuel economy than gas engines and provide a higher level of torque that's well-suited to hauling.

The two engines have different types of speed adjustments that you can make. The diesel models' default top speed is 26 mph; there is an accessory mechanical speed limiter that makes the top speed 15 mph. The gas models use a PIN-protected digital speed adjuster that can be increased or decreased in 5 mph increments between 15 and 40 mph. 

If the Pro XD Mid-Size fits your needs better than the Full-Size models, then you'll be operating a gas engine, as only the Full-Size models are available with a diesel engine.

Two-Passenger vs Four-Passenger (Crew)
Estimate the number of passengers the vehicle will have to haul on a regular basis. Standard mid- and full-size Pro XD models can carry up to 2 people, while the crew versions can carry up to 4 people. In addition to another row of seating, the crew models have a higher payload capacity.

Mid-Size vs Full-Size
Pro XD Full-Size models have a larger engine and body than the Mid-Size models, so they can carry and tow more weight.

How much do you need to transport or tow?

The Full-Size has a higher maximum payload and towing capacity.

What kind of space do you have available for storage and maneuvering?

The Pro XD Mid-Size is shorter in length and has a narrower profile than the Full-Size. It also has a smaller turning radius for tight corners. 

How will you use the bed box?

The Pro XD Full-Size has a much higher weight capacity and a larger box that can fit a full-size pallet.

Is a diesel engine more appropriate for your fuel needs?

There are Full-Size standard and crew models that use diesel engines, but the Mid-Size comes exclusively with a gas engine.
